Background
The health landscape across Australasia is evolving. Critical care standards need to be developed for paramedicine to ensure appropriate utilisation of paramedic capabilities, patient safety, health literacy across the health sector, and training/education requirements.
The Australasian College of Paramedicine is developing standards for paramedicine in critical care and is calling for paramedics, and other health professionals, to be part of the expert project team that will develop these standards.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking paramedics, and other health practitioners, across metropolitan and regional/rural areas, public and private sectors, Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, with relevant expertise and experience to join the expert project group. The mix of relevant skills and experience includes:
• Clinical experience of paramedicine in a critical care setting (min 3 years)
• Research skills and experience, particularly in critical care or quality initiatives
• Experience with quality, evidence-informed clinical governance and patient safety
• Experience in developing critical care practice guidelines i.e. clinical practice guidelines
What will standards be used for?
The standards will provide a framework and consistent minimum standard of practice for the Australasian context. They will be used to inform:
• individual paramedic practice
• employers of paramedics working in multidisciplinary critical care teams
• employees of multidisciplinary teams (other professions)
• members of the public who receive care from paramedics working in critical care
• curriculum development
Time commitment
This expert project group will run for approximately six months from October 2024 to March 2025. Members will be expected to attend regular expert working group meetings (every 4-6 weeks) for up to 2 hours each, for the duration of the project.
