Job opportunity: Engagement Manager - Australasian College of Paramedicine

Are you a relationship builder with a passion for member engagement and community connection and advancing paramedicine and health outcomes? We're looking for an Engagement Manager to join our remote team at the Australasian College of Paramedicine (the College).


This full-time role (32 hours across 4 days) is ideal for someone with strong member services experience who's ready to lead engagement initiatives, support regional activities, and help us connect with paramedics, student paramedics and the broader health community across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.


This role involves building and nurturing relationships with industry partners, service providers, universities, and other stakeholders to expand opportunities for our members and strengthen the profession. You'll oversee member engagement strategies, work closely with regional coordinators and the events team, and collaborate across the organisation to deliver meaningful programs and services. This is a hands-on leadership role in a purpose-driven, values-based organisation.


What you'll be doing


  • Develop and execute engagement and retention strategies to grow membership and connection across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia
  • Oversee member services, regional engagement activities, webinars and support the delivery of events
  • Lead and support engagement officers and other staff in engaging paramedics and students across both countries
  • Build culturally responsive engagement approaches that honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communication team to promote membership and engagement activities
  • Manage the development of new member content, programs, and engagement initiatives
  • Attend and host engagement activities and events
  • Provide strategic advice on engagement and advocacy activities in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Travel across Aotearoa New Zealand and to Australia on a regular basis (4-6 times per year)

Role detail


This is a full-time role (32 hours across 4 days) offered initially on 12 month contract with opportunity to extend.


The College has a remote-based, work from home workforce, meaning the Engagement Manager will work from their own home office and can be based in any location in Aotearoa New Zealand, preference for Wellington or Auckland.


What we're looking for


Essential:


  • Minimum 3 years' experience successfully leading a team (employees and contractors), including working with other managers
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum of 3 years) in member engagement, customer services, or community programs, preferably in a membership or not-for-profit organisation AND/OR experience working as a paramedic
  • Proven ability to develop and execute engagement strategies for retention and acquisition
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply culturally responsive practices in engagement activities
  • Strong knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand's emergency, urgent, and primary health care system and workforce
  • Ability to multi-task across several projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal (including presentation and influencing) and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented
  • Permanent work rights in Aotearoa New Zealand with no restrictions

Desirable:


  • Registered paramedic
  • Tertiary qualification in business, communications, health, or other relevant field
  • Experience managing a remote team
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or in a not-for-profit membership environment
  • Experience in delivering education activities
  • Conversational te reo Māori capability
