Research: Understanding what recent graduate paramedics know about fatigue risk management strategies

You are invited to participate in a research study investigating what recent graduate paramedics know about fatigue risk management.

Fatigue in paramedics has multiple impacts that need to be addressed. Fatigue can negatively impact on both paramedic and patient safety (Ramey, et al., 2019; Pyper & Paterson, 2015). Strategies to manage fatigue are relatively unexplored, and despite negative impacts being identified, the literature contains minimal reports on implementation of interventions. The focus on recent graduates as a cohort that would benefit from further investigation was chosen due to the variety of impacts that fatigue has on paramedics and the need to prepare them prior to entering the work force. This project will utilise interviews conducted via Zoom to explore the knowledge recent graduate have on fatigue risk-management strategies.

This study is for graduate paramedics who are currently completing their internship with a state-based ambulance service. They also must have studied at a university within NSW.

Please share with anyone you may know who meets the criterion so it can meet the target audience.
