Rapid Response Update December 2023

Rapid Response is the College’s monthly eNewsletter providing current and important information from the College.

Advocacy

Our College Advocacy Team is closing out the year with a few member updates:

The Australian Government Health and Aged Care Department major review, Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce: scope of practice: The Expert Review Committee met for the first time with College representative Alan Eade in attendance, advocating for the broader utilisation of the profession. We look forward to bringing you more updates on this important review throughout 2024.

NSW Special Commission into health funding: The College provided a submission to the inquiry, and we have been approved to appear at the hearing in 2024 (hearing began 27 November).

Listen to our latest Advocacy in Conversation episode ‘Strengthening Medicare’, featuring special guests Catherine Maloney CEO SARRAH and Karen Booth, Chair, APNA. Listen here.

Have your say: Covid-19 Royal Commission. We are inviting members to have their say on the Terms of Reference for this Royal Commission. Take the survey here.

Member Engagement Team

Over the past month or so, our Member Engagement Team have been attending events across Australasia, fostering relationships and providing support to universities and student paramedic societies.

2024 conferences

We are in the process of confirming dates and venues for our conferences to be held in 2024. Next year will see the return of our Research Symposium, and we will introduce you to our new Primary Care Summit, which will absorb the content from our Rural Outback and Remote (ROAR) Conference, and expand the focus to include more aspects of primary care, community paramedicine and the rural/remote setting.

Our International Conference, ACPIC24, will be held in Sydney from 11 - 13 September, and we look forward to welcoming you to this premier event on our calendar.
