Research Opportunity: Australian paramedic mental healthcare education

Help us understand what the important issues are with the state of mental health education for professional paramedics and graduates of university paramedic programs.

The increasing incidence of mental health presentations in paramedic practice highlights the need for appropriate mental health education to support paramedics in this area. Despite efforts to introduce mental health education and training, there continues to be extensive debate and discussion surrounding the quality and effectiveness of this education within the Australian paramedic landscape. This project aims to explore the views and experiences of key stakeholders regarding this issue to inform future efforts to support effective mental health education for the pre-hospital care environment.

The research involves an interview (approximately an hour of your time) either in person or via telephone or other agreed means. FOr more information and to view the partipant information sheet click here.

To be involved you need to be:

  • A paramedic with 24 months or greater of on-road clinical experience (vocational or university-trained).

OR

  • A paramedic university program graduate who completed a mental health subject as part of their studies and who has had less than 12 months on-road clinical experience.
