Member Representative Committees and Groups - EOIs


The Board is calling for Expressions of Interests (EOI) for the following Member Committees, Advisory Committees and Special Interest Groups.

These committees / groups form a vital part of the College's member engagement and representative structure, allowing knowledgeable and highly engaged members to support the effective functioning and delivery of the College

EOIs close on Monday 25th May.

NOTE: These are MEMBER committees and groups - EOIs from non-members will not be considered.


Member Committees

Structure: Chairperson, vice chair and a committee of three to six members (varying sizes based on needs)

Scope: Jurisdictional - NZ, VIC, QLD, NT, SA, WA, TAS, NSW, ACT

Key Objectives:

  1. To provide a representative voice for each jurisdiction to inform and advise the College on member and jurisdictional needs, and
  2. To facilitate member service delivery, including professional development seminars and targeted member activities.

The Member Committee chairs will meet as a group on a regular basis as well as attend a yearly Member Committee Chairs meeting with the College Board representatives.

Advisory Committees

Structure: Chairperson, vice chair and a committee of three to six members (varying sizes based on needs)

Scope: Research, Clinical Standards, Professional Standards, Student, Awards & Recognition.

Research Committee

  • Responsible for all areas relating to the facilitation and development of high quality, original research across topics of importance for paramedicine, with an emphasis on supporting the profession’s development in areas where research is lacking.

Clinical Standards Committee

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining clinical quality, robust clinical governance and patient safety across the paramedic profession. Oversight of the overarching educational direction of the College.

Professional Standards Committee

  • Responsible for all areas related to developing and maintaining a credible profession through stakeholder engagement and the setting of standards in relation to professional behaviours, practices and relationships.

Student Committee

  • Responsible for all areas relating to the engagement, development and transition of undergraduate student paramedics.
  • NOTE: Must be a current undergraduate student.

Awards and Recognition Committee

  • Responsible for the recognition of members for their service to the College and the profession.

Key Objectives:

  1. To provide strategic and operational advice and leadership in relation to the committee’s area of expertise to the College, and
  2. To facilitate opportunities / development / position statements in relation to the committee’s area of expertise.

Note: Advisory Committees are organisation wide covering all jurisdictions.

Advisory Committees chairs will attend a yearly National Advisory Committee meeting with the College Board representatives.

Special Interest Groups

Structure: Chairperson, vice chair and a committee of three to six members (varying sizes based on needs)

Scope: Established on a needs basis - for example, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Regional & Remote, Private & Military, Paramedic Practitioners etc

Key Objectives:

  1. Allow for the discussion and dissemination of area specific knowledge
  2. Provide advice and direction to the College on matters relevant to the committee

There has been approaches about SIGs covering:

  • Paramedic Practitioners
  • Credentialing/accrediting or developing a clinical fellowship
  • Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Paramedic-centric environmental cleaning and infection control
