As new associate partner of the Paramedicine journal, The Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) joins the growing ranks of key Australasian academics and employers transforming the profession through the development of high-quality, evidence-based research.
Paramedicine is the official journal the The Australasian College of Paramedicine (the College) and the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada. CAA joins the current associate partnership cohort of the Australasian Council of Paramedicine Deans, the McNally Research Group, the Emergency Care Society of South Africa, and the Irish Paramedicine Education & Research Network.
“The addition of CAA brings the region's key industry representative organisation and the employer of the majority of paramedics into partnership with the College, as the peak professional association, and the broader academic and research communities" said College CEO John Bruning. "CAA joins with leading regional and international academics and employers as part of a shared vision to further the research outcomes and evidence base of paramedicine.”
“The Council of Ambulance Authorities is pleased to announce that it has become an associate partner of the College-initiated Paramedicine, the international peer-reviewed journal that expands the evidence base for paramedicine and drives evidence-led paramedic practice internationally. We support the journal’s vision to deliver excellence in paramedicine through an international research forum that inspires robust discussion, enables research translation, and encourages innovative thinking and informs leadership in the ambulance and paramedic sector,” said CAA Chief Executive David Waters.
Paramedicine is a bi-monthly, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research from any country engaged in any area of paramedicine, including but not limited to clinical care, models of practice, operations, patient safety and clinical quality, leadership, education, aeromedical and retrieval practice, tactical paramedicine, and community paramedicine. It is published online in partnership with the renowned Sage Publishing.
Editor-in-Chief Associate Professor Paul Simpson is flanked by an international team of Deputy Editors comprised of Associate Professor Walter Tavares (Canada), Dr Alan Batt (Canada) and Dr Kathryn Eastwood (Australia). Supporting the editorial leadership team is a diverse Associate Editorial Panel consisting of 28 researchers, academics and paramedics from nine countries.
Submissions are also open for an upcoming special journal edition themed “The Future of Paramedicine”. The special issue aspires to stimulate those working in or adjacent to paramedicine to engage in “horizons thinking” by challenging existing notions of who we are and what we do; exploring the outer reaches of paramedicine’s professional boundaries; and proposing how it might or should be situated within a future broader health system. The deadline for submissions is 10 December 2024. For more information, visit: https://paramedics.org/news/paramedicine-journal-call-for-papers
