Trauma on the Border 2022 - keynote speaker announced

Trauma on the Border 2022 will be delivered as a hybrid conference on Friday 18 March 2022, offering attendees the opportunity to attend the annual conference face-to-face at Tweed Heads, or view the entire conference remotely on an interactive platform on the College website.

As we continue to lead the way forward in the evolution of the paramedicine profession, this year's theme of "Driving professional change" showcases the latest developments in paramedic practice, current research, and a host of speakers and presentations catering to the priorities and needs of paramedics of all levels, from students to on-road paramedics, intensive and extended care paramedics, flight and mobile paramedics, paramedic educators and academics, and senior managers.

Keynote speaker: The College is excited to confirm this year's keynote speaker - McQuilty Quirke, NSC

McQuilty Quirke has inspired many people with his courage, determination and positive mindset after battling through Post Traumatic Stress from Iraq, then the physical wounds sustained after being Wounded-in-Action in Afghanistan. He was a leader, a company medic, a soldier, and his life was in the hands of his mates.

He is currently writing a book to document his experiences in the hope of inspiring individuals to rise up, learn through lived experience and live a fulfilled life. He has a strong focus on wellbeing, particularly helping fellow veterans and first responders, and mentoring younger generations. McQuilty is an Ambassador for veteran owned Non-for-Profit Company Swiss 8 and uses his lived experience to promote healthy wellbeing. He is married to Tammy with two children, and they reside in Townsville.
