The Australian Stroke Foundation and the NZ Stroke Foundation are currently running campaigns to help spread awareness of stroke and shine a light on the life-changing condition. The College would like to use this opportunity to thank all our paramedics in Australia and New Zealand who have worked hard helping communities and patients affected by stroke. We also encourage the wider community to participate in the stroke awareness campaigns in which ever way they can.
AUSTRALIA
National Stroke Week: 2-8 August 2021
This year, the Stroke Foundation is asking the community to be 'United by Stroke' by learning the F.A.S.T. (Face. Arms. Speech. Time) signs of stroke. A stroke occurs in Australia every 19 minutes, and they can be deadly if not treated quickly. Learn more about the signs.
Register for National Stroke Week and raise awareness of the signs of stroke.
The Stroke Foundation partners with the community to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery. They do this through raising awareness, facilitating research and supporting stroke survivors. Find out more about what they do.
NEW ZEALAND
Beanie Up: 1 June - 31 August
Led by the Stroke Foundation NZ, Beanie Up helps to support thousands of stroke survivors and their families. One New Zealander experiences a stroke every 45 minutes and the NZ Stroke Foundation responded to over 5,500 stroke survivors in the last year. Learn more about the signs of stroke - F.A.S.T. (Face. Arms. Speech. Take action).
