The College has been meeting with the leaders of the COVID-19 Taskforce regarding the role paramedics can play in the COVID-19 vaccination National Rollout Plan.
As the vaccination rollout gathers pace, we anticipate a number of opportunities across all jurisdictions for registered paramedics as well as third-year paramedicine degree students to be involved.
The current situation represents an important opportunity for our profession to demonstrate our capacity to contribute to community health outcomes in a broader setting and help pave the way for more diverse roles for paramedics in the health sector.
Australian vaccination rollout
We have created an expression of interest (EOI) form to enable the College to gather a list of those Australian paramedics or third year students who would like to take on a role in the vaccination rollout, with the intent that we will then be able to swiftly provide your details to employing agencies and ensure a rapid response to calls for workforce support.
We encourage all Australian members who are interested in contributing to the COVID-19 vaccination rollout to complete the EOI.
To be prepared for a role in the vaccination rollout, you will need to ensure your vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) immunisations are up to date; complete (if not already done so) the four-hour COVID-19 vaccination training online; and preferably be fully vaccinated (or at least one dose) for COVID-19.
