College in the media: 4BC interview with CEO, John Bruning

College CEO, John Bruning, was interviewed on 4BC Drive 26 May 2025.

Summary of interview:

Newly graduated paramedics are being forced to look overseas as they struggle to find employment in Queensland.

Chief executive of the Australasian College of Paramedicine, John Bruning, says there used to be a large demand for paramedics following the COVID-19 pandemic, but levels have since gone back to normal.

“I’ve been involved with the college and paramedics for 12 years, and we’ve always produced more graduates than the roles available … there are definitely opportunities where paramedics can play a bigger role in the health system,” he told 4BC Drive.
