Live Interactive Symposium 2024 - Day One

About The Event

The Live Interactive Symposium is back for another year! It will be held over four days (25, 26, 27, and 28 November 2024, times vary) and will provide attendees with eight hours of interactive CPD. Each day will see two subject matter experts present on an array of different clinical topics. There will also be an opportunity for questions with each speaker.

This session will include presentations on:

  • Recognition and variation to pain management presented by Dr Bill Lord
  • Hip fracture assessment presented by Mel Alexander

Speakers

Dr Bill Lord

Dr Bill Lord is a registered paramedic who has worked as a paramedic in Sydney, Melbourne, and Queensland until 2018. He has worked in higher education for 25 years including as a Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Head of Undergraduate Paramedic Programs at Monash University, and more recently as Associate Professor and Discipline Leader for Paramedic Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Bill currently has an adjunct Associate Professor position at Monash University, is deputy co-chair of the Paramedicine Accreditation Committee, and holds a position on the Board of Directors of the Australasian College of Paramedicine.


Mel Alexander

Mel has been working for SA Ambulance for 20 years and was a paediatric intensive care RN. She is an intensive care, extended care paramedic, and has qualified as a Paramedic Practitioner through Deakin University. She has worked in paramedic education and is currently focusing her research on Hip Fracture Care in South Australia and working towards her PhD.
