About

Synopsis: Regionalised trauma systems have been demonstrated to reduce trauma morbidity and mortality globally. However, increasing numbers of major trauma patients are placing demands on trauma systems. This presentation will provide an overview of trauma systems and how such systems can evolve to account for these increasing demands.

Biography: Dr Ben Beck is Deputy Head of Prehospital, Emergency and Trauma Research at Monash University and the President of the Australasian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN). He is a Chief Investigator on the Victorian State Trauma Registry and the current holder of an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship. Dr Beck leads a large body of trauma and injury prevention research, with a focus on trauma systems, identifying emerging injury trends, road safety and reducing preventable deaths.
