It’s what we learn

About

It’s what we learn - after we know it all - that counts. Sascha shares her journey as a middle-aged wife and mother, into university and paramedicine, my trials and achievements and what it’s like to be a learner in a new career when you were pretty sure you’d nailed the adulting thing.

Sascha completed a Bachelor of Paramedic Practice in 2015 and joined NSW Ambulance the same year. Sascha went on to complete a Grad Cert in Advanced Paramedicine which engaged her interest in paramedic research. In 2018 Sascha commenced in the Higher Degree by Research program at Western Sydney University with a qualitative focus on paramedic experiences. This year Sascha has transitioned to a casual position with NSW Ambulance as she is completing a Bachelor of Nursing with a view to combine the roles in the future. Sascha is from the rural south west of NSW and has practiced as a paramedic predominantly in small towns throughout the region. Sascha is a passionate advocate for rural healthcare and embedding the paramedic role within the healthcare team of rural areas.
