Presented by Shonel Hall, this session explores how to manage the mother and neonate after birth of the baby. There will be a particular focus on the first few hours of life, but will cover resus, and up to the first 28 days.

This session will delve into:

  • Essential after-birth care
  • Recognising the unwell neonate
  • Birthing parent care in the fourth stage
  • First 28 days of life

Biography: Shonel Hall

Shonel Hall is a practising Paramedic, Midwife and Lecturer at QUT. A self-confessed birth 'junkie', she has a passion for all things birth. Shonel is particularly interested in educating paramedics with the knowledge and confidence to understand and assist families during the perinatal period. Shonel is on the Education SIG for the College and is an SME in the field of out-of-hospital obstetrics. She has also recently accepted a position as a CCP intern with the Queensland Ambulance Service. Outside clinician life, Shonel is a mother of 4 who is passionate about environmental conservation, camping, and food.
