Extended Care Paramedicine - a decade of opportunity and challenges

Extended Care Paramedicine - a decade of opportunity and challenges

About

Presented by Associate Professor Jason Bendall

In the early 2000s there was a focus in the UK on redesigning and modernising urgent and emergency care. The promise of the right skill, right time and right place across the spectrum of acuity led to Australian and New Zealand ambulance jurisdictions looking for better ways to manage rising demand for ambulance services. In 2007 NSW Ambulance launched Australia's first Extended Care Paramedic (ECP) program. This presentation will discuss the journey of extended care paramedicine over the past decade discussing challenges (and learnings) and future opportunities.
