Envenomation - Snake Bites

Envenomation - Snake Bites

About

In this webinar, Simon explores the epidemiology and pathophysiology of snake bite in Australia. While this may be a relatively uncommon presentation for paramedic services, when the time comes, it's crucial for paramedics to understand the situation at hand.

Simon also discussed the clinical presentation and management principles for the out-of-hospital environment while also exploring the fundamentals of antivenom. The presentation is followed by a questions and answers session.

Presented by: Simon Menz

Simon started his career with St John Ambulance in 2011 as a Student Ambulance Officer before graduating as a Paramedic in 2014. Since then, he has undertaken a variety of roles within St John, including Community Paramedic, Paramedic educator and most recently as a Clinical Lead Paramedic.

Outside of St John he has taught Paramedic students at Curtin and Notre Dame University. In 2020 he completed a Master of Specialist Care Paramedic practice at Monash and is currently enrolled at Curtin University in a PhD where he is investigating the prevention, assessment and management of post-partum haemorrhage. Simon has a passion for Paramedic lead obstetric care, ECG analysis and toxicology. Outside of paramedicine he enjoys exploring all things wilderness.
