Presented by Shaun White Presentation Synopsis: Survival rates for Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest are traditionally poor where effective CPR and defibrillation, if required, is delayed. As part of a wider cardiac care strategy, Ambulance Tasmania has been active in developing a registration and notification system in the event of an immediately Life-Threatening Medical Emergency where an AED is clinically indicated and a community based AED is known to be located within the vicinity.

Bio: Commenced ambulance career working for ASNSW in Sydney’s west before heading south, to work in the Nation’s capital as an Intensive Care Paramedic / Training & Development Officer, while completing a degree in Paramedical Sciences.

In 2007, Shaun moved to Doha, Qatar where he was employed as the Clinical Services Director for the nationally run ambulance service. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position provided an opportunity to lead the identification and implementation of industry best practices for a service responding to over 100,000 calls a year, and to set overall performance targets in an environment and culture that only a decade before had a peak deployment of 6 emergency vehicles and was supported by personnel from the local rehabilitation hospital.

In late 2011 Shaun returned to Australia, taking up a role in research and clinical practice with Ambulance Tasmania, before undertaking the role of Clinical Director, and more recently Manager of Aero-Medical & Special Operations.

Shaun has just completed a post Graduate Diploma in Health & Human Services, and whilst continuing to work for Ambulance Tasmania in a reduced capacity I have recently agreed to assist a not-for profit and church based organisation in leadership management and restructure.
