Presented by Matthew Shephard Presentation Synopsis: A light hearted look at a paramedic career from a career paramedic.
Not everything is lights and sirens as the media portrays. This presentation will review the perception of the paramedic profession and discuss some of the realities of the role. A discussion of what makes a “good job” will detail some differing views to public perception. A look at possible career opportunities and career progression will be highlighted for both national and international roles.
Bio: Matt began his health career as an Emergency nurse before becoming a paramedic in 1999. Since that time, Matt has had the opportunity to work in various roles within Ambulance Victoria to the present day where he practices as a MICA Flight Paramedic with Air Ambulance Victoria. Matt has a passion for clinical excellence and promotes this attitude to all that he encounters. More recently Matt has become involved with some research projects and is looking to further his academic and research career in the near future.
