About

Dr Paul Simpson presents on the emergence of the Australasian Council of Paramedicine Deans.

Paul is a senior lecturer and the inaugural Director of Academic Program for Paramedicine at Western Sydney University. He began his paramedicine career in 1996 with NSW Ambulance, where he worked as intensive care paramedic, clinical educator and research fellow. He completed his PhD in Public Health and Community Medicine, investigating epidemiology and clinical outcomes of older people who fall and receive care care from paramedics. Paul's current research interests include work-integrate learning in undergraduate paramedicine programs, immersive simulation in paramedicine, paramedic wellness and resilience, clinical reasoning and decision making, and paramedic management of low acuity and geriatric patients.

Paul continues to engage in clinical practice, working as an Intensive Care Paramedic with NSW Ambulance.

Paul is active in service to the profession of paramedicine. He is the current inaugural Chair for the Australasian Council of Paramedicine Deans, Co-chair for the National Research Committee for the Australian and New Zealand College of Paramedicine, and the representative of the Australian and New Zealand College of Paramedicine on the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) national committee.
