Presented by Dr John Cheek Presentation Synopsis: ""Paediatric congenital cardiac disease"" is a complex topic whose detail often swamps emergency and prehospital providers with its endless acronyms and eponymous lesions. When broken down into broad categories focused on management priorities however, the complexity falls away. This talk will cover the types of lesions that can be expected in children with known congenital disease as well as those with undiagnosed lesions, and will focus on when to “think cardiac” and what to do once you have.

Bio: John Cheek is a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, and a fellow of the Australasian Collage of Emergency Medicine. He trained in Victoria during which time he acted as the Royal Children’s Hospital Trauma Fellow, which gave him keen appreciation for prehospital providers. He currently works as an Emergency Physician for both the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s as well as maintaining academic appointments with Monash University and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. He has lectured on the management of congenital cardiac lesions and Paediatric ECG interpretation in both hospitals education programs.
