On the 21st November 2016, Melbourne, Australia experienced the world’s largest reported thunderstorm asthma event with over 300 paramedic-assessment cases of asthma or shortness of breath. Many patients only improved after receiving adrenaline. International asthma guidelines do not comment on the most common prehospital treatment of critical life-threatening asthma, IM adrenaline. This presentation will show how the use of our pre-hospital patient care data can change pre-hospital guidelines to benefit all patients

Dr Kate Cantwell is an Intensive Care Paramedic and data analyst with Ambulance Victoria in Melbourne Australia. She has been a paramedic for over 20 years. Kate has a PhD in Public Health and a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
