Australasian College of Paramedicine International Conference (ACPIC25)
ACPIC 2025 delivered a wide range of clinical and research sessions from experts and leaders in paramedicine. Hosted in Brisbane (September 2025) the program was designed to inspire, educate and broaden horizons.

Oxygenation and Ventilation – from physiology to intervention
This session will utilise a cased based approach to explore key concepts in respiratory physiology. From gas law to the oxyhaemoglobin dissociation curve, participants can expect to be guided through the concepts that underpin ‘why we do what we do’ to correct derangements in oxygenation and ventilation. This session is suitable to paramedic students of all levels as either a review of important concepts heading into exams or as a deep dive into the new and exciting world of physiology for earlier level students.
Biography: Lucy Oatley
Lucy Oatley ASM is an Intensive Care Flight Paramedic based on the Westpac rescue helicopter in Hobart, Tasmania. Lucy completed her undergraduate degree at Queensland University of Technology in 2014 before commencing her career with the Queensland Ambulance Service in Brisbane. In 2017, Lucy relocated to Tasmania, completing her Intensive Care training with Ambulance Tasmania in 2020. Lucy has since worked in patient facing clinical duties and in project management roles within the Clinical Services division of Ambulance Tasmania, before moving onto the helicopter in 2022. Lucy has a keen professional and research interest in the provision of reperfusion therapy in the out of hospital setting, and the challenge of delivering high level clinical care across the predominately regional and often remote island state of Tasmania.
