Conference theme: Paramedicine's evolution – Embracing the new era
A pulse check of research activity in Australasian paramedicine academia: A sector scan through the lens of the Scopus H-index
This study assessed the research activity of 170 Australasian paramedicine academics using the Scopus H Index (Sc-H). Findings reveal that 61% had a Sc-H of zero, and 90% had a Sc-H below five. Among 17 professoriate paramedicine academics, five had a Sc-H of 10 or more, and three were above 15. These results suggest most academics are either inactive researchers or their work is not being cited or is published in non-Scopus journals. These insights are valuable for discussions about the effectiveness of using a single-metric system to evaluate paramedicine research activity.
