Biography: Daniel Fish

A qualified mechanic & lifelong car guy, Dan commenced his career as a Fire & Rescue NSW firefighter in 2002, later moving into an Operational Support role with the Appliance Training Unit. In the role as a trainer, he designed & delivered training programs across Recruit Training, Compressed Air Foam, and Aerial Appliances & has deployed operational FRNSW specialist appliances across New South Wales at a wide range of emergency incidents. Additionally, Dan is a Leading Firefighter in Western Sydney's Metropolitan West 2 Zone & has worked in community resilience & preparedness for bushfire events.

This operational knowledge led Dan to support FRNSW's research into the emerging alternative energy & electrified transport sector, working to better understand risks & response to incidents involving high voltage & lithium batteries. In particular, Dan is working with battery and vehicle manufacturers to connect the dots on thermal runaway & fire suppression, as well as road rescue procedures.
