In October 2020, ACP was pleased to deliver our first fully online and interactive paramedic conference. The conference attracted over 1100 attendees, 60 speakers and 36 sessions.

This case study session is an overview of a status seizure case on a remote island in Vanuatu only accessible via helicopter. The session focusses on status seizure treatment and the austere environment.

Biography:

Scott Jones is a Critical Care Flight Paramedic who has worked for the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) since 2007. Prior to being a paramedic, Scott served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years as an infantryman, S.W.A.T. (special weapons and tactics) member and hand to hand combat instructor. After leaving the United States Marines Corps in 2001 he trained as a paramedic in San Jose, California and went on to work in various emergency services and educator roles. During that time Scott was also the lead instructor/lecturer at WestMed College for their Emergency Medical Technician Basic and Paramedic courses. In 2007 Scott and his family immigrated to Queensland where he joined the QAS. He is currently on leave from the QAS where he works as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic based in Mount Isa, Queensland. Since January 2020 Scott has worked as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic and Clinical Manager for ProMedical Ambulance Service in Vanuatu. Scott promotes prehospital education through his Paramedic Inc. Facebook page and the Free Radicals Paramedic Podcast.
