A Complicated Island Retrieval

Managing the many challenges of retrieving an injured patient from a remote indigenous island community when you cannot fly. All cases have their unique challenges but when your patient's weight exceeds the loading limit of the helicopter what are the other options available and what goes into your preparation?

Presented by: Hannah Gaulke, Critical Care Paramedic, Queensland Ambulance Service

As a paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service Hannah’s experiences all over the state have shaped her into the clinician she is today, from rural and remote communities to urban, metropolitan areas. From an on-road paramedic to critical care retrievals as a flight paramedic, as well as working in clinical education and policy development, her roles have rounded out her clinical experience. Hannah is also very passionate about physical fitness with a love for martial arts and is driven to help develop the clinical capabilities of Australian paramedics into the future.
