The student experience of the peer support program; will your caring profession care for you?

Paramedics consistently respond to potentially distressing situations, putting them at high risk of developing vicarious trauma if not treated appropriately. This session will offer commentary on the peer support process delivered by the South Australian Ambulance Service which aims to mitigate this risk and support the longevity of its employees’ careers. The program’s significant value to paramedics and clinical placement students will be discussed, as well as potential steps to increase efficacy for students.
