STUCON 2021 is an in-depth student conference that focuses on clinical best practice, education and research.
Aimed at undergraduate paramedic students, the conference offered an insight into current and emerging knowledge from across the globe. Speakers included a mix of students, researchers, educators and industry practitioners for a truly enlightening experience. STUCON 2021 was an online conference, hosted in July 2021.
An exploration of decision making when accessing emergency healthcare in moderate to severe asthma patients from rural and remote Australia
This session will highlight the key differences in circumstances when accessing emergency healthcare due to a moderate to severe asthma exacerbation between rural or remote and metropolitan areas. It will explore how these differences in geographical location may impact both the paramedics management and patient decision making when accessing emergency healthcare for one of the largest contributors of respiratory illness throughout Australia.
Biography: Alannah Stoneley
Alannah is a third year Bachelor of Paramedicine (Honours) student who has a deep interest in rural health and providing equity in access to emergency healthcare. After completing her degree, she hopes to gain a job as a paramedic whilst also continuing her research into rural health and being an advocate of those living in rural and remote locations.
