Quetiapine: A need to know phenomenon in massive overdose

Quetiapine: A need to know phenomenon in massive overdose

About

This case review session explores the little-known concept of paradoxical hypotension in large quetiapine overdose when treated with adrenaline via infusion.

This session aims to guide clinical practice by discussing the implications for the pre-hospital management of this increasingly common presentation.

Alex Hartley MSpecParamed(c), BParamedcPrac, BHM(Edu.) Prior to transitioning to ambulance practice, Alex worked as a secondary school teacher within the Department of Education Tasmania. After a combined six years experience with Ambulance Tasmania and the Queensland Ambulance Service, Alex recently qualified as an Intensive Care Paramedic in Hobart. Alex has a particular interest in ECG interpretation, pre-hospital cardiac care, and clinical toxicology and pharmacotherapy. Alex's career aspirations are to combine his teaching and clinical experience to one day work within clinical support and pre-hospital education.
