ACPIC 2023 delivered a wide range of clinical and research sessions from experts and leaders in paramedicine. Hosted in Melbourne (September 2023) the program was designed to inspire, educate and broaden horizons.

Review of Australasian Ambulance Service Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS)

This presentation will discuss the findings from an Australasian review on the current state-of-play of Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS) in ambulance services, specifically the fatigue monitoring tools, mitigation strategies and general fatigue management. The findings provide insight into existing FRMS frameworks and present opportunities to enhance fatigue management across the paramedic sector and promote collaboration between services.

Biography: Matt Ferris

Matt has worked in the healthcare sector for over 10 years, the last 7 with state-based ambulance services. Working in both metro and rural settings has provided him with lived experiences of the challenging dilemma of the desire to provide continuous service delivery and appropriate fatigue safety within the constraints of contemporary ambulance services. He is currently completing a PhD on pre-hospital fatigue management, aiming to enhance the paramedic experience.
