Michael Hadj

Regional Manager Southern Region Ambulance Operations, St John NT

I started my professional career in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps before moving to the Military Police, Northern Territory Police and the Australian Federal Police, with a few odd jobs in between before settling on my career choice of becoming a paramedic.

I had loved my time in the Medical Corps but didn’t wish to return to the Army, and luckily for me, Queensland Ambulance Service was recruiting. I started as a student paramedic qualifying in 2007, before relocating two years later to Ambulance Victoria and then once again moving back to QAS five years later.

I have had a lot of interesting cases over the years that have stayed with me, from serious motor vehicle incidents to successful resuscitations of both infant and adult patients. This is not a job without its challenges, but the rewards are equally as great, and far often the good outweighs the bad.

My career has taken me across Australia and enabled me to work for and alongside several great services, and I hold them all in strong regard. At a time in my life when I was considering retirement, a new challenging and exciting opportunity presented itself to me. I was offered an opportunity to return to the Northern Territory and take on the role of Regional Manager Southern with St John NT. I accepted the offer and am still working with St John NT today.
