At today's Annual General Meeting, former College Board Chairperson Peter Jurkovsky was recognised for his tireless efforts to advance the paramedicine profession in being named our newest Life Member.
Life Member recognition is one of the highest honours the College can bestow on a member, acknowledging outstanding and distinctive contributions to the field of paramedicine.
Peter, a former paramedic and senior lecturer in paramedicine who now practises as a lawyer, was instrumental in bringing together Paramedics Australasia and the Australian and New Zealand College of Paramedicine to form the Australasian College of Paramedicine, and served as the inaugural Chairperson of the Australasian College of Paramedicine. He was also Chair of the Australian National Registration Working Group and played a pivotal role in the introduction of national paramedic registration in Australia in 2018 - the 15th health profession to be regulated under Ahpra, and testament to the continued evolution and progression of the paramedicine profession.
“The members recognised Peter’s contribution as the College’s inaugural Chairperson and his dedication in bringing Paramedics Australasia and the Australian and New Zealand College of Paramedicine together,” said College CEO John Bruning. “The College thanks Peter for his leadership and vision in creating the College to further the paramedic profession.”
