Nominations for the National Rural and Remote Health Awards hosted by Rural Health Pro are now open.

This is your opportunity to celebrate and honour outstanding individuals and organisations that have significantly contributed to improving rural and remote health across Australia.

In its inaugural year, the Awards received more than 200 nominations across 10 categories, with all states and territories represented. Attended by more than 170 guests, the Awards brought together a remarkable group of people on the national stage to be acknowledged and celebrated for their dedication and commitment to keeping our rural and remote communities healthy.

The 2024 Awards will build on this success, and again invite stakeholders from across Australia to join in a celebration of the inspirational stories to be found at the heart of rural and remote health.

In 2024, the primary objective for the Awards remains unchanged: To acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the healthcare providers, individuals, and groups who tirelessly strive to keep rural and remote communities healthy. By doing so, the aim is to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals to follow suit and continue the vital work of improving health outcomes in these communities.

Nominations close on 8 July with the awards presentation to be held on 6 November at the National Press Club in Canberra, on Ngunnawal Country. The event promises to be a highlight of the rural and remote health community calendar for 2024.

The Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health, The Hon Emma McBride MP, and the National Rural Health Commissioner, Adj. Prof. Ruth Stewart will once again attend the Awards to show their support.

The Award categories are: Rising Star, Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healthcare, Dedication to Health in a Remote Location, Excellence in Rural/Remote Health Administration, Rural/Remote Aged and Disability Carer of the Year, Rural/Remote Health Innovator of the Year, Rural/Remote Health Advocate of the Year, Rural/Remote Health Professional of the Year, Rural/Remote Health Employer of the Year, and Rural/Remote Multidisciplinary Collaboration of the Year.
