About The Event

Join us in person or online for a day of expert insights into a range of topics in Paramedicine across spinal injury, trauma, paramedic development and more. We have an incredible line up of passionate and widely experienced clinicians ready to share their knowledge and experience with you. This CPD event is designed specifically for students and qualified paramedics - don't miss out on this unique learning opportunity!

Speakers

Dr Dinesh Palipana

Dinesh was the first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland, and is now a doctor, lawyer, disability advocate, and researcher. While in medical school, he was involved in a car accident that caused a spinal cord injury. Dinesh has completed a Bachelor of Laws at the QUT, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law, Emergency Medicine Certificate at the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine, and Doctor of Medicine at Griffith University. Dinesh works in the emergency department at the Gold Coast University Hospital, and is also a researcher and senior lecturer at the Griffith University. Dinesh is a researcher in spinal cord injury, co-leading the BioSpine research team. He is a doctor for the Gold Coast Titans physical disability rugby team, and was a senior advisor to the Disability Royal Commission. He is a founding member of Doctors with Disabilities Australia, and is a John Monash Scholar. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2019 and was the Queensland Australian of the Year for 2021. His autobiography, Stronger, was published by Pan Macmillan in 2022.

Ben Phipps

Ben Phipps has been a paramedic for almost twenty years, with the last twelve as a critical care paramedic. A frontline supervisor and flight CCP on the Sunshine Coast, he has previously worked as a flight paramedic in Mackay and Thursday Island, and on road in Hervey Bay, Kingaroy, Cairns, Mossman and Innisfail. Outside of QAS, Ben is an auxillary firefighter with qualifications in several areas including vertical rescue & road crash rescue. A paramedicine panel pssessor with the Queensland Civil & Administrative Tribunal, Ben is married with one daughter (and another child on the way!)

Jason Keen

Jason has been independently practicing as a paramedic for over 15 years, qualifying as a critical care paramedic in 2021. He has real world experience in road crash rescue and two years competition experience with QFES at a national level. He currently works as a CCP in Brisbane and is passionate about teaching developing paramedics at Queensland University of Technology and the University of Southern Queensland.

Tash Adams

Tash Adams is a Senior Critical Care Paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service, working with the Brisbane High Acuity Response Unit. Her clinical interests include progressive trauma and medical care, clinical education and leadership development. Tash is also a current Ambassador for the Australian College of Paramedicine.
