Professor Tippett is the Director of Research for QUT’s School of Clinical Science. Professor Tippett has worked for nearly 20 years as a clinical researcher in emergency pre-hospital care, including seven years as Director of the Australian Centre for Pre-hospital Care Research at University of Queensland and Queensland Ambulance Service. In recognition of this work she was awarded the Distinguished Services Medal by the Queensland Ambulance Service in 2011. In 2014 she was achnowledged as one of 125 Women in Leadership awardees by the YWCA. Professor Tippett is currently leading a Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC consortium on emergency warnings and crisis communication. She was awarded the OAM for services to medical education in 2018.
Monica Farrow is Director of Operations, Emergency Management Unit, Queensland Ambulance Service. With over 26 years’ experience in ambulance services across a myriad of clinical, supervisory and managerial positions, Monica Farrow is currently the Director of Operations for the Emergency Management Unit, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS). Monica is responsible for the State-wide preparedness, planning, education and governance of QAS disaster management response and recovery, significant incidents, event management, readiness and exercise management, and aeromedical safety and governance.
In 2018, Monica was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) for exemplary performance in leadership, expertise and contribution to the strategic planning, preparation and readiness of QAS operations supporting the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Monica holds a Master of Education (Leadership & Management), postgraduate degrees in Business and Intensive Care Paramedic Practice and a Bachelor of Health Science from the Queensland University of Technology. Monica is currently undertaking studies in psychology and is passionate about human behaviour, capability building, public safety, policy and research.
