Join us for an engaging and evidence-based CPD webinar designed for paramedicine educators, clinicians, and workforce development leads.
In this session, Andrew Van Noordenburg will take us through the findings of his recent scoping review Capabilities for the Paramedic Preceptor Role, published in the Journal of Paramedicine. Drawing on systematic evidence, Andrew will unpack the essential skills, knowledge and attributes that make preceptors effective in supporting student learning and professional emergence — crucial for fostering safe, capable and confident graduates ready for clinical practice.
Following this, Professor Scott Devenish will explore the often challenging transition from student to graduate paramedic. Scott will share insights from his extensive research and academic leadership, including reflections from his PhD work on professional socialisation and early career experiences. Participants will gain practical understanding of the support structures, mindset shifts, and educational strategies that can help early career paramedics thrive in the field.
What you’ll take away:
Key capabilities required for effective preceptorship grounded in current evidence
Research-driven strategies to enhance the student-to-graduate transition
Practical implications for educators, clinical supervisors and workforce planners
Opportunities for discussion on integrating evidence into paramedic education practice
This CPD session is ideal for paramedicine educators, clinical supervisors, advanced clinicians and anyone involved in student learning or early career support.
