Wound Care Workshop - Adelaide

About The Event

Interested in getting some hands-on experience managing wounds? Join us in Adelaide for an in-person workshop on wound care.

Experienced and passionate Extended Care Paramedics from the Adelaide area will be running this workshop in order to impart some of their extensive knowledge.

What will be covered?

  • Cleaning a wound bed
  • Describing and documenting wounds
  • Managing the person around the wound
  • Wound bed preparation for closure and debridement
  • Wound closure (suturing, glue, staples, etc)
  • Draining an abscess and ongoing care
  • Follow-up care
  • And more!

Speakers

Mel Alexander

Mel has been working for SA Ambulance for 20 years and was a paediatric intensive care RN. She is an intensive care, extended care paramedic, and has qualified as a Paramedic Practitioner through Deakin University. She has worked in paramedic education and is currently focusing her research on Hip Fracture Care in South Australia and working towards her PhD.
