AUTSPA Simulation Challenge

About The Event

The Auckland University of Technology Student Paramedic Association has proudly organized a paramedic simulation challenge.

The aim is to enhance the practical skills and decision-making abilities of paramedic students through realistic, high-stakes simulations. This event serves as an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge, teamwork, and application of clinical skills in a controlled environment whilst supported by mentors and their peers.

Participants will include paramedic students from Auckland University, Whitireia and military backgrounds, along with faculty members and industry professionals who will act as judges and observers. Teams of 4-6 students, representing their respective institutions/organisations, will rotate through various simulation stations. Each station will feature a different medical emergency scenario, such as cardiac arrest, trauma, or respiratory distress. These scenarios are designed to test critical thinking, assessment skills, and treatment protocols.

A judging panel comprised of experienced paramedics, educators, and medical professionals will evaluate each team's performance based on criteria that include clinical skills, knowledge application, team communication, leadership, time management, and professionalism in adherence to paramedic protocols.
