Valsalva manoeuvre

Valsalva manoeuvre

About

The Valsalva manoeuvre (VM) is widely accepted as the first-line treatment for narrow complex tachycardias in haemodynamically stable patients. Despite this, its effectiveness is often up for discussion amongst paramedics, with anecdotal reports showing mixed results. In this microlearning, we review the available research into the efficacy of the VM and examine the pathophysiology underlying the manoeuvre. We provide a step-by-step guide and instructional video to increase your chances of success.
