About

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) represent a relatively common injury attended by paramedics globally. In this course engage with case-based learning and interactive content covering demographics, primary & secondary injury, patient assessment, and management strategies. Gain insights into TBI epidemiology, pathophysiology, assessment techniques, and management goals to improve patient outcomes.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the epidemiology of traumatic brain injuries.
  • Examine the pathophysiology of primary and secondary traumatic brain injury.
  • Interpret key assessment findings when assessing patients with traumatic brain injuries.
  • Assess the severity of traumatic brain injuries using the Glasgow coma scale.
  • Apply your understanding of pathophysiology to appraise management goals to prevent or reduce secondary traumatic brain injury.
