About

Skin to skin contact is an important physiological function which encourages positive outcomes for mother and baby and is supported by strong scientific research. Skin‐to‐skin in the first hour after birth has multiple benefits for the birth parents and baby. Through an enhanced understanding of the newborn infant's instinctive behaviour, practical, evidence‐informed suggestions paramedics can develop a basic understanding of how to successful integrate this into out of hospital practice.
