About

In this module, we'll look at pregnancy phsyiology and care of the pregnant person.

A coordinated sequence of events must occur to establish and successfully maintain a healthy pregnancy. Pregnant women develop an altered physiology to compensate for the needs of the developing fetus. Understanding pregnancy physiology and developmental changes that occur during pregnancy is important to be able to assess and treat the unwell pregnant patient.

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Classify differences in pregnancy physiology
  • Apply differences to pregnancy physiology to non-obstetric medical presentations
  • Demonstrate understanding of common non-obstetric presentations am pathologies in pregnancy
  • Apply knowledge of pregnancy physiology to assess the pregnant patient
  • Execute appropriate abdominal examination of the pregnant patient.
