About

In this introductory course, written by stroke expert and Critical Care Paramedic Dr Wayne Loudon, we take an evidence-based look at stroke and stroke management in the out-of-hospital environment.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall the definition of stroke and the various stroke sub-groups
  • Explain the assessment and treatment implications of small vessel versus large vessel stroke
  • Construct an organsied approach to stroke assessment
  • Review the clinical stroke tools available to clinicians and apply the most appropriate tool
  • Examine an evidence-based approach to out-of-hospital management of stroke
  • Evaluate evidence-based acute cares available to patients suffering from stroke
  • Plan and evaluate an appropriate management plan for patients presenting with stroke in the out-of-hospital environment.
