**Penetrating and blast trauma - Lessons learnt on the battlefield to save lives on the street **

Synopsis: Dave and Ben’s presentation outlines the lessons learnt by soldiers on the battlefields of recent international conflicts and how they are being implemented to change the way that Australian domestic emergency services respond to incidents of increasing threats to ensure clinician safety and the best possible patient outcome.

Biography:

Dave Healy is a senior Queensland Police Service Officer who has been a part of the SERT Unit since 2006 as well as currently being a SERT medic and Medical Portfolio Manager.

Ben Davoren spent 10 years in the military serving as a Combat First Aider (CFA) before becoming a Medic in the Australian Army. He has seen operational experience in the Solomon Islands, Iraq, Timor and Afghanistan.
