Medication Safety in the Pre-hospital Setting and Pharmacology Principals

This presentation will cover key aspects of medication safety relevant to the pre-hospital setting, including factors that contribute to medication errors, your individual responsibility as a clinician in ensuring medication safety and understanding the importance of reflecting on medication incidents and/or near-miss events in your workplace.

The Pharmacology session will cover how the pharmacokinetics of a medication can change according to patient factors and differences to medication pharmacokinetics in different populations.

Biography: Danielle Ironside

Danielle is a registered pharmacist with 13 years’ experience working in the public hospital setting. She has been with the Queensland Ambulance Service for the last 2.5 years working in the area of patient safety and professional standards. Danielle has a particular interest in medication errors in the pre-hospital setting as well as providing pharmacology and medication safety education sessions to paramedics across the state.
