Australasian College of Paramedicine in partnership with Palliative and Supportive Care Education (PaSCE) presents Advance Care Planning for the Paramedic.

Presented By: Dr Simon Towler, Dr Alison Parr, Gary Wilson and Susie Wilson

Dr Alison Parr is a Specialist in Palliative Medicine, within the WA Department of Health’s End of Life and Palliative Care program, Dr Parr is the Clinical lead for Palliative Care.

Dr Simon Towler the Clinical Lead for End of Life care and an Intensive Care Specialist; he is also the Clinical Lead for the WA Health and The Australian Digital Health Agency.

Dr Parr and Dr Towler present on clinical decision making in Palliative Care, what is palliative care and the paramedic’s role. Topics include: all aspects of Advance Care Planning and Goals of Patient Care. Within this session, Alison and Simon also discuss the challenges for paramedics, managing patient and family expectations with emphasis on quality living and end of life care.

Ambulance Wish Western Australia

Gary and Susie Wilson from Ambulance Wish Western Australia discuss Ambulance Wish WA, their research that they have conducted into pre-hospital palliative care and a Paramedic perspective.

The mission of the Ambulance Wish Western Australia is to fulfil the wishes of terminally ill patients who are no longer mobile and unable to travel without medical intervention, equipment and support. Medically trained volunteers and adapted ambulances provide the means to make these last dreams come true, clcik here for more information
