Job opportunity: Qualified & Intensive Care Paramedics St John NT

St John

Qualified & Intensive Care Paramedics

Full time

St John Ambulance Australia (NT) Inc. (St John NT) is the Territory’s leading provider in emergency medical response and preparedness. We have a mission to save lives and build community resilience to improve the safety and healthcare for all Territorians. We do this by providing a range of services from ambulance services under contract to the Northern Territory Government, coordination of emergency medical responses, event health services and first aid assistance at community and major events through to nationally accredited first aid training, community education and first aid products and equipment.

Working as a St John NT Qualified/Intensive Care Paramedic means not only making a real and lasting positive impact on the community, but also brings the opportunity to garner a rich and challenging professional experience.

We are recruiting Qualified and Intensive Care Paramedics for a number of positions across the Northern Territory including Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Darwin (location preferences may be requested and will be assessed in accordance with operational needs) with an anticipated November 2022 start date.

If you are up for the challenge of expanding your scope of practice in the Territory, you will find yourself:

  • Responding to a significant number of medical and trauma cases requiring full application of clinical knowledge and skills;
  • Demonstrating your adaptive and creative thinking skills through overcoming language and cultural barriers in treating a diverse patient population;
  • Delivering care with a wide scope of practice supported by the new St John NT Clinical Practice Manual;
  • Developing an understanding of the unique characteristics of living and working under extreme weather conditions and in ‘out of the ordinary’ situations; and
  • Treating complex cases, often in remote locations requiring 4WD, boat or plane access.

Though the paramedicine field in the Territory is tough, it may be one of the most rewarding places to work. You will also have access to the following benefits:

  • Generous salary;
  • Relocation packages, including travel and accommodation;
  • 8 – 10 weeks annual leave;
  • Salary sacrificing; and
  • Dedicated 24hr Employee Assistance Program and counselling service.

The minimum application requirements include:

  • Degree in Paramedical Science from a Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) approved University;
  • Current Authority to Practice as a Qualified or Intensive Care Paramedic; and
  • Current (unconditional) registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Employment with St John NT is subject to a Criminal History Check, Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and compliance with the St John NT Immunisation Policy.

Applications close 30 October.
