National Health Workforce Innovation & Reform Strategic Framework for Action

Richard Brightwell (Director) attended the first consultations session held in Perth on 11 April 20011.

The Australian Health Ministers Conference (AHMC) is aware of the urgency of future health workforce challenges and the need to build on work developed through national and regional collaboration. As a result HWA has developed a Draft for Consultation of the National Health Workforce Innovation and Reform Strategic Framework for Action (Framework).

The Framework is intended to establish a robust and well considered direction for future workforce development while not detracting from present needs and commitments. It will be a structure for thinking, planning and action that will support a sustainable health workforce in response to changing population health needs, demographics and technologies.

The development and implementation of the Framework will require strong partnerships across sectors, jurisdictions and professional groups to look at the Australian health workforce through the prism of major innovation and reform.
