Expressions of Interest are being sought from actively practicing clinicians who have experience, skills and established networks across a range of healthcare sectors.

The National Lead Clinicians Group is being established to improve clinical engagement in Australia and will provide high level strategic oversight and leadership on clinical issues, including complementing the role of other national bodies by prioritising the development and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices.

The Department of Health and Ageing is now seeking Expressions of Interest for membership of a National Lead Clinicians Group.

Individuals wishing to apply for membership should bring a whole of system view to the group, and have experience, skills and preferably established networks in one or more of the following:

  • Medical practice;
  • Nursing practice;
  • Primary care practice;
  • Specialist practice;
  • Allied health practice;
  • Rural and remote health;
  • Indigenous health;
  • Mental health;
  • Aged care; or
  • Consumer views.

Members are expected to contribute independent advice and engage in discussions that will assist in the prioritisation and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices. Members are also expected to act in accordance with recognised principles of good governance. Commitment is expected to entail attendance at quarterly meetings, and participation in up to three teleconferences and an annual forum.

It is expected that approximately 20 members will be appointed for a period of up to three years. Remuneration will be paid in accordance with government policy.
